Health trends report for 2022 and 2023--Strata Integrated Wellness Advertorial

What’s the word in the world of integrated health and wellness for 2023?

Read on for three key health trends we saw in 2022 and what we predict for 2023:

1. In 2022, people searched for a less frustrating, more connected way to find healthcare

With limited appointment availability making some patients wait months and often have to deal with tangled insurance bills and claims, people’s frustration with mainstream health care only grew in 2022. Some found their only option was to turn to hours of waiting in an urgent care center when they had a cold, sprain, or other minor issues and they couldn’t get an appointment with a regular doctor. Once past the waiting room and in with the doctor, patients were frustrated at the limited time the doctor had during the appointment and how often the appointment only led to a referral to another doctor or medicine. All that, usually with a recommendation to “follow up in three months,” highlighted a mostly broken system.

However, many found the solution when they turned to “concierge medical care” offered at integrated health and wellness centers. With doctors and clinicians all in one building, and patients find they can see anyone on the team, from a world-renown cardiologist to chiropractors, nutritionists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and naturopathic doctors. The services offered at Strata Integrated Health and Wellness, for example, are more than just convenient—-their comprehensive list includes everything from an in-house lab and IV therapy center, hospital-level diagnostic testing, DNA assessments for preventive care, and an extensive line of tinctures, supplements, and customized compound medicines.

Strata also provides a respite on site for those seeking wellness: the building has floor-to-ceiling windows with a stunning view of the Garden of the Gods Park and legendary 14,000-foot snow-capped Pikes Peak—ideal for gazing towards while receiving any spa and salon treatment one can think of. Ayurvedic services go hand-in-hand with pampering pedicures and facials. Relaxation in the natural pink Himalayan salt rooms pairs nicely with a mindfulness meditation session. A stroll through the new Strata Boutique to mix a custom dry tea blend or pick out a Colorado-made artisan gift makes a visit to this integrated wellness center a treat–not a trial.

2. People looked for ways to help themselves

In 2022, people became interested in ways they could help themselves to better wellness. Online searches for immune system care, mindfulness apps, healing and pain relieving natural remedies, and at-home stretching, yoga, and fitness were popular. In 2022, Strata’s practitioners were able to get people started on the journey to empower their own health with a healing touch and sound therapy sessions they could learn to replicate throughout their days. Coaching with Strata’s in-house Nutritionist, Dr. Claire Mademann, helped people clean out their cupboards and demystify what type of diet was right for them as individuals–helpful in an environment where there are so many conflicting messages about what to choose.

Getting started with Strata’s nationally certified Acupuncturist, Kelli Miller, led to information about acupressure the patient could do on their own for a variety of preventive and restorative care. Patients and clients even found simpler ways Strata could help them improve their health on their own, such as spending time in the pink Himalayan salt rooms and walking throughout the property next to the soaring red rocks of the Garden of the Gods Park, among deer, juniper bushes, and mountain breezes.

3. People sought information and education about health concerns and options for treatment–as well as prevention

The past few years have been confusing on the medical front for many people, with conflicting messages and unpleasant surprises along the way. In 2022, Strata saw a strong uptick in people wanting to understand health and wellness. Through education, people began to realize there is more than just one way to treat an issue and that they could gain from having a team of doctors all communicating about their needs as a team. This helped to address not just the issue of concern but solving the root cause and provided preventative care. Decisions in mainstream general practices that were made about what and how much medicine to take became a hotly debated topic at times.

But there was no guessing game for patients at Strata when it came to medicine: the team of doctors at Strata was able to create custom compounds to provide a patient with only the medicine they needed, and at the time they needed it.
